We believe every kid should get the chance to enjoy the fun, growth, and connections that come with playing basketball. That’s why we’re breaking down the barriers that keep families from signing up. Say hello to Free Basketball SOMA — our way of making the game accessible to everyone.

Who can apply?

Anyone in our community (South Orange or Maplewood, NJ) experiencing financial difficulty is welcome to apply—whether due to job loss, medical expenses, or other personal challenges. Families currently receiving most forms of government assistance and state child care subsidies will instantly be eligible.

What does the assistance cover?

Support may be available to cover program fees, uniforms, transportation and more.  

Is my information kept private?

Absolutely. All applications are reviewed confidentially with the utmost respect for your privacy.

How do I apply?

My income is high. How do I qualify?

We realize that financial need comes in many different shapes and sizes. Our goal is to serve anyone who is experiencing financial difficulty. Any financial assistance not covered by our program partners will be covered by the SOMA Basketball Boosters.  

How are the SOMA Basketball Boosters able to offer financial assistance?

We are a 501c3 non-profit organization who mobilizes all of the families and businesses of our community behind our mission of Building A Better Community Through Basketball by Ensuring Access to All.  Our fundraising team activates donors and sponsors alike to help us to deliver on this mission.
